From my own experience, I have found that confidence is the key to success in STEM subjects, and so developing students’ confidence in this area, in order to produce academic success, as well as to for the purpose of personal development, is my aim. I believe that the deepest understanding comes when students make developments in thought themselves, as opposed to being taught each step, and so, as a tutor, my strategy revolves around providing the structure to facilitate this. Having an engineering background, I really value creativity in thought, and so will encourage students to elaborate on their thought processes when answering questions.
